Ryan Yip is a recent graduate from the University of Michigan - School for Environment and Sustainability, specializing in Environmental Justice and Policy. He holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
As an early-career professional with a strong interest in the clean and renewable energy sector, Ryan’s graduate capstone project was dedicated to supporting energy sovereignty through technical analysis and community participation in Moloka‘i, Hawai**‘**i.
In parallel with his academic coursework, he actively pursues early career opportunities. He served as the Project Lead and Data Analyst Co-Lead while working for the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre throughout the Student Energy Career Training Program, where he analyzed global sustainable workforce strategies and just transition programs across North America, while engaging with industry stakeholders and youth job seekers to curate an actionable report with recommendations to support a just transition in the renewable industry.
Outside of work, Ryan is an avid advocate for climate action. He co-founded the Hong Kong-based climate advocacy group "Climate Sense," engaging youth in climate literacy and enhancing knowledge accessibility relevant to international climate conferences, such as the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the Conference of the Parties (COP).
